Out today: Tues. Nov. 6thToday marks the release of Hard Rock's SERVE 2 CD, a compilation benefiting the World Hunger Year. WHY is a nonprofit organization that strives to fight against hunger and poverty in America and around the world. All proceeds from SERVE2 will be donated directly towards Artists Against Hunger & Poverty (AAHP), a special artist-directed program of WHY.

We're honored to have "God's Last Days", an unreleased track from our Down Beside Your Beauty sessions, included among songs gifted by Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, and many others. As Ken said, "The indiscriminate nature of music might contain a valuable lesson itself.

Our second video from Down Beside Your Beauty.Fave Friends,

Feel like it's been a little while since you heard from us? Sorry 'bout that. We've been busy creating a slew of new music and videos. Now it's time to show those that matter most to us what's happening.

Our second video from Down Beside Your Beauty, Tear The Room Apart, the half-way point and thematic glue of the album, is ready to be experienced. Our friend Eric Tu conceived and directed it. If you're keeping tabs, he's worked with Johnny Marr, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, and Stars of Track and Field on past videos.

Eric chose to shoot the video in a cavernous antique lighting gallery in downtown NYC. The mood he set within the space was meant to resemble an Irish wake, a subtle metaphor for surviving the past, dealing with the best and worst of times. We shot all scenes in seven somber hours and this is the final, stark sequence.

The video is featured on MySpace Music Videos page now and can also be viewed by on our homepage MySpace homepage alongside videos we created for some new tracks you probably haven't heard. We have some catching up to do, don't we?

Summer Tour 2007 Video

It's time to pack our satchels and hit the road. We're off again to find our place in this weird world. Ok, it's only a couple weeks of soul searching but it's been awhile and we're sufficiently stir crazy. In the case of our new video for "Pistols & Girls" from Down Beside Your Beauty, our champion manifests his struggle in fantastical form and fights the good fight for him and him alone. Directed by Altlanta-based up-and-comers Radical Friend, it's with great pleasure that we share this visual mini-epic.

Yee haw We're packing up and heading to Manchester! Tennesse, that is. It's been announced that our Brooklyn boys Favourite Sons are headed down to Bonnaroo this year and we're happy as a pig in shit. Favourite Sons will be playing in Bonnaroo's "intimate cafe tents" where they put all the up and comers they think are shaking things up. After holding hands with Voxtrot, ending with a sure-to-be epic show at Webster Hall, the fellas will pack it up and head south. Yee haw.

Finally gettin' back in the van, folks. It's been too damn long and we're antsy. The sweet dudes of Voxtrot have asked us on a string of dates early through mid June. Dates are posted in our tour section. More details to follow but enough now to take note.

In the meantime, we're playing a couple shows in March with The Horrors (they do what they do amazingly well, if you haven't heard). All of y'all in NYC should try your luck with this ticket, t-shirt, cd giveaway the Tripwire is running. Why the hell not?

So, the Sons played our first show of the new year last night at Joe's Pub in NYC. Thank you very much to Nancy and the Joe's Pub staff for having us. Friends, family, and strangers braved the chilling cold and late hour to show their support and make the evening truly special. We managed to play about 8 new songs and a bunch of older ones. From the response, it seems like Coco Rushdie and Lucy were standouts of the new. It's good to be back on stage and working through a slew of new material. So it's a new year and with that comes new inspiration. Seems like the floodgates have opened in Ken's mind and a deluge of new songs, melodies, and such have come pouring out. From dusty stomps to melodic pop gems to emotional epics, each practice sees Ken launching the band in a new and exciting direction. This song, alongside others by Thom Yorke, Cat Power, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and many more, is available on the Susan G Komen Benefit CD. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will be used for breast cancer education, screening, treatment, and research.

Favourite Friends: Slaughterhouse Boys (and Girls)
In the beginning were the Slaughterhouse Boys. Though none of them knew they would one day bare the imagery from a Sons song ("Pistols & Girls") as a coat of arms and rally cry, they've been there from the very first show on. They are the familiar faces we look to whether lighting the crowd afire or looking for a life raft on a sinking ship.

This photo puts a few faces to the experience but don't assume it an exclusive allegiance. As the Sons have grown, so has the slaughterhouse to include any and all that believe. Man, woman, son, daughter, world. They keep us alive. Everyone.
